Semantic Web is often seen as a vision of
the next generation of the World Wide Web. More
broadly, the Semantic Web technologies will allow us
to implement a vision of personal computing where the
emphasis is on information itself, rather than on
the processing of information. Adoption of these
technologies may lead to new ways of thinking about
applications and other end-user software. My belief is
that the open-source community can -- and should --
play a pivotal role in innovating the new forms of
software and services enabled by Semantic Web
technologies.
