Distributing Data - Using RDF at The Apache Software Foundation

"The data silo is dead! Long live the data silo!" Such has been the cry from many organisations during 2006 and 2007 as emerging technologies have finally allowed the internet to make distributing data a reality. Allowing users to control the location and availability of their data has meant learning how to best use the myriad of technologies that have emerged, often with mixed results. This session will discuss two internal ASF projects that harness the power of the ASF communities via RDF formats and distributed data but produce websites with a consistent look and feel. Focussing both on community and technical aspects, the session will provide details of the approaches taken, technologies used and lessons learned - both good and bad!
