Apache POI: the Open Source Java solution for Microsoft Office
Widely used in financial services and related sectors, Apache POI is the file format reader and writer to create, edit, and read Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio using pure Java.
Apache POI has been in development since 2001; it became an Apache Software Foundation Top-Level Project (ASF TLP) early 2007, and released POI 3.0.1 with new features for Excel, as well as first-time support for PowerPoint and Visio.
The session will show you how to use Apache POI to read and write Excel files, demonstrate new features, simplify working with the low memory event api, cover the usermodel and eventuser model, migrate your existing code to support both OLE2 and OOXML, and more. We'll also explore other file formats supported by Apache POI, including Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
