Apache Streams is a new Incubator project that aims to develop a scalable server for the publication, aggregation, filtering and re-exposure of enterprise social activities via the ActivityStrea.ms specification. This new project provides the opportunity for enterprises to break out of the siloed activities generated in current systems to provide enterprise-wide, stream-based social integration.
The ActivityStrea.ms specification was developed to define a standard data model for activity streams popularized by many Internet social networks. Apache Streams attempts to build on this data model to support an enterprise system for social integration. To accomplish this, Streams is being built around a publication/subscription model with the following features & goals:
* Publication of Activities from multiple systems via HTTP
* Aggregation and syndication of streams
* Support for security trimming of streams by social graph
* Noise reduction and intelligent filtering
* Federation of streams across disparate systems
* Provide libraries for easy integration in source systems
Come see the current state of the project and how it can be used as the hub of your social enterprise.
