Description

OpenSocial Embedded Experiences within ActivityStrea.ms are changing the way that users interact with their activity stream. Rather than simply rendering the content of a stream, Embedded Experiences deliver rich, in-context content interaction via OpenSocial gadgets. Come see how applications built on Apache Rave & Apache Shindig can take advantage of this game-changing capability.

Abstract

OpenSocial is an open specification created to provide both API and component programming models for delivering social applications. Historically, OpenSocial has been used to deliver lightweight gadgets that can be used across any compatible OpenSocial container. With version 2.0 of the OpenSocial specification, the Embedded Experiences model was introduced and opened the door for in-context interaction with stream-based information via embedded gadgets.

Apache Rave is a web and social mashup engine with support for the OpenSocial 2.5 specification when used in conjunction with Apache Shindig. Rave’s flexible, widget-based UI offers the ability to compose rich web applications, portals and social collaboration systems.

This presentation will show how you can take advantage of the OpenSocial support in Rave to build a stream-based user interface that offers situational awareness via ActivityStrea.ms and in-context interaction with via Embedded Experiences.
