Stefano Mazzocchi

Stefano Mazzocchi is an MIT research scientist working on SIMILE, a series of projects that take a pragmatic, grassroots approach to bootstrapping the web of data. He is also known for his open source activities withing the Apache Software Foundation of which he's been a member since 1999, a director between 2003 and 2005, and currently serves as the Vice President for Apache Labs. There, he's is mostly known for having started the Apache Cocoon project. He has also participated in several expert groups within the Java Community Process, such as the Servlet API, the Java XML API and more recently the Java Content Repository API. His research interests include data interoperability, data mining and visualization, user interface design, software usability, and software engineering.
